Running ldacsort
The ldac tools documented in
this
incomplete PDF file with page numbering inconsistent between table of
contents and actual document are still a kind of Swiss Army Knife when it
comes to manipulating binary FITS tables. Unfortunately, you'll have to
find out how to do it yourself by digging into the sources.
There is a neat tool called
ldacsort
that can sort a table by a
column. Unfortunately, it requires a configuration file, the format of
which is undocumented outside the source code. But just try a
configuration file named test.conf
SORT_COL=Y_IMAGE
and run something like
ldacsort -i in.cat -o out.cat -t OBJECTS -c test.conf
and you'll have the table OBJECTS in in.cat sorted by Y_IMAGE and written
to out.cat.
